Gemma Lighting ‘Highly Commended’ for Innovation

Businesses across the south were again in the spotlight last night as the very best in business turned out to celebrate the Johnston Press South Business Awards.

The spectacular evening held at the Grand Hotel in Brighton saw the regional finalists from across the south come together to find out who the real champions are.”

Gemma Lighting had previously won ‘Innovation of the Year’ and ‘Overall business of the year’ at the Portsmouth News awarded hosted earlier this year.

Brian Johnson, who judged every category on behalf of BAE Systems, said: ‘We just felt that because Gemma Lighting had done so well in each of the categories they were far and away the business which we felt ticked every box.

‘The firm is innovative, it is exporting, it is expanding, and all while manufacturing is in decline.’

Gemma Lighting is once again celebrating after being ‘High Commended’ for Innovation. The title was awarded to Gemma Lighting to recognise the advances the company had made in LED and Solar Lighting, with exports leading the way for the Portsmouth based manufacturer.

After picking up the award the firm’s Managing Director, Craig Manuel, said: ‘We are delighted about picking up this award, our team have worked exceptionally hard this year to remain market leaders and develop ground breaking technology’.

The award ceremony was again hosted by TV star Fred Dinenage who commented ‘“I love these awards this event in particular, because this is the crème de la crème, this is the battle of the giants.
