Following six years of key projects with the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), Gemma Lighting have been awarded a ‘Certificate of Recommendation’ from DEWA and the Government of Dubai for their LED High Bay Lighting.
DEWA are one of the largest utilities providers in the world, and have a vision to be a sustainable world-class utility. Formed in 1992, DEWA’s mission is to meet customer satisfaction and promote Dubai’s vision through delivery of electricity and water services at a world-class level of reliability, efficiency, safety and sustainability.
With the help of long term partner Value Additions, over 2000 LED fixtures were successfully installed into DEWA properties across Dubai with results from Gemma’s Sovereign LED High Bays far exceeding the expectations of DEWA.
Gemma Lightings managing director Craig Manuel commented “There was a lot of competition for this prestigious project. However, we were able to demonstrate to DEWA that the quality of our LED High Bay Light was superior to any other product on the market”
The Sovereign LED High Bay is manufactured by Gemma Lighting in the UK, which allows Gemma to control quality to the highest standard thus ensuring that the Sovereign met the high standard required by DEWA.
Manufacturing manager John King said “We were pleased to welcome the DEWA team to our UK factory where we had the opportunity to show case our factory and demonstrate the measures we have in place to ensure each and every product is made to the highest standard”
The Sovereign LED High Bay is flexible in its design with adjustable side modules allowing for a range of photometric foot prints. The Sovereign also features high lumens for low wattage, excellent uniformity and a low glare rating.
As well as offering a financial saving to DEWA of more than £2.5m over the lifespan of the scheme, the authority also dramatically reduced their CO2 emissions, from 856 carbon tonnes per annum down to just 273 tonnes per annum. The result of these savings means that over the lifespan of the LED lighting scheme, DEWA will have saved more than 10,500 tonnes of carbon emissions.
Gemma Lighting and Value Addition continue to work together to aid businesses all across the Middle East and Africa in using effective LED lighting solutions to lower running costs, maintenance bills and carbon emissions with a bespoke service and award-winning products.
