Every year on June 5, people, communities, and organisations from all over the world come together to celebrate World Environment Day to raise awareness of and take action on urgent environmental challenges.
World Environment Day was founded in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly founded to increase public awareness of environmental challenges and encourage action. It has since grown to be the largest global venue for environmental advocacy and is observed every year on June 5.
Each year, a new environmental topic has been emphasised to discuss and focus on, so that the particular issue can be resolved as soon as possible. Previous topics covered are climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, sustainable consumption, and renewable energy.
The theme for this year’s World Environment Day focuses on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.
At Gemma Lighting we are registered as an EEE producer through a WEEE service provider to ensure our luminaires/components are disposed of correctly when they are no longer serviceable and reach their end of life.
You can also read about our application examples which demonstrates how you can reduce carbon emissions, reduce energy consumption, and reduce your energy costs by implementing a lighting solution from Gemma Lighting.
