Dubai, July 2025 – This year marks a major milestone for Gemma Lighting and its groundbreaking partnership with the Dubai Government 20 years since the launch of the world’s first modern, urban-scale solar street lighting installation.
Back in 2005, the Dubai Government’s visionary approach to sustainability found the perfect partner in UK-based manufacturer Gemma Lighting. Together, they delivered a pioneering solar lighting project that transformed public infrastructure and set a new global benchmark for solar adoption in urban environments. This flagship project was not only a regional first but a worldwide industry breakthrough one that continues to influence solar lighting standards across the Gulf and beyond.
